About Window Box
A window box is a folding carton with part of a panel die cut away, optionally backed with a clear film patch. It is the answer to a specific retail problem: when the product itself is more persuasive than a photograph of it.
The design tension is real. Every square centimetre given to the window is taken away from printed brand surface, and a large aperture weakens the panel it sits in. A window that is well placed and modestly sized usually outperforms one that dominates the front face.
Whether to fit a clear patch depends on the product. Open apertures cost less and keep the carton a single material; a patch protects the contents from dust and handling.
Customisation options
Construction, board, print and finishing are all specified per project. If something you need is not listed, ask — most requirements can be produced in house.

Window shape, size and position are set on the dieline. A patch can be fitted where the contents need protecting; leaving the aperture open costs less and keeps the carton recyclable as a single material.
On large apertures we may recommend a slightly heavier board, since removing material from a panel reduces its rigidity.
Why choose a window box
The product sells itself
For anything with visual appeal, seeing the actual item is more convincing than a printed image of it.
Builds confidence at the shelf
A window signals that there is nothing to hide, which matters for food and handmade products in particular.
Any shape you want
The aperture is cut on the die, so it is not limited to a rectangle — an outline that reflects the brand is no harder to produce.
Produced at our Ajman facility
Cartons are printed and finished, the aperture is cut with the rest of the dieline, and the clear patch — where specified — is applied before side-seam gluing. All at our Ajman facility.
Because the aperture is part of the cutting die, its shape and position have to be final before tooling.

Frequently asked questions
Should the window have a clear patch?
It depends on the contents. Food, cosmetics and anything that would be spoiled by dust or handling benefit from a patch. For a robust product, an open window costs less and keeps the carton a single recyclable material.
How large can the window be?
Large windows are possible but they remove rigidity from the panel. Beyond a certain proportion we would recommend heavier board or a redesigned aperture. We will tell you if the size you want is going to cause a problem.
Can the window be a custom shape?
Yes. It is cut on the die, so a shape that reflects your brand or the product outline costs no more to run than a rectangle. It just needs to be confirmed before the die is made.
Does a window increase the price?
A little, mainly from the clear patch and its application. An open die cut aperture adds very little beyond the tooling.
