The construction
Food packaging has to survive conditions no other packaging faces: heat, steam, grease and a delivery rider. It also has to arrive looking like the brand that made it, often after twenty minutes in an insulated bag.
That combination pushes most decisions towards the structural. Ventilation stops steam turning a crisp product soft. Board weight determines whether a box holds its shape when the contents are hot. Print coverage and coating determine how the box looks after contact with oil.

Food packaging is printed, die cut and glued in the same way as our other carton work, with the structural details — vents, locking tabs, grease-resistant board choices — set on the dieline before the cutting die is made.
Materials intended for direct food contact are specified per project. Confirm the contact requirement with us when you enquire so the correct board and coating are quoted from the start.

Is your food packaging suitable for direct food contact?
Board and coating for direct food contact are specified per project rather than assumed. Tell us what the packaging will hold and whether the food touches the board directly, and we will confirm the appropriate material and any documentation available for it before you order.
Can food boxes be printed in full colour?
Yes. Full colour CMYK and Pantone spot printing are both available. For hot or greasy products the choice of coating matters as much as the print, since that is what determines how the printed surface holds up.
Do you make custom sizes for food packaging?
Yes. Sizing to the actual portion matters more in food than almost anywhere else — a box that is too large lets the product move in transit, and one that is too tight crushes it. Send us the product dimensions or a sample.
Why do some food boxes need ventilation?
Because trapped steam condenses and makes fried and baked products soft. Small die cut vents let steam escape while the box is in a delivery bag. It is a small structural detail that has a large effect on how food arrives.
