Overview

About Roll Labels

Once label volumes pass a certain point, sheets stop making sense. Peeling individually from a sheet is slow, and any labelling machine expects a roll.

Roll format brings its own specification. Core diameter has to match the applicator. Winding direction — which way the label faces as it unwinds — has to match how the machine presents it. Labels per roll determines how often the line stops for a change.

If you are using an applicator, send us its specification with your enquiry. Those three numbers are not guessable, and a roll wound the wrong way is unusable on the machine it was made for.

Specification

Customisation options

Construction, board, print and finishing are all specified per project. If something you need is not listed, ask — most requirements can be produced in house.

Send us your applicator's core diameter, maximum roll diameter and required winding direction. Without those three, a roll can be produced correctly and still be unusable on your machine.

For hand application the specification is looser, but labels per roll is still worth agreeing so rolls are a manageable size.

Why this packaging

Why choose a roll labels

Made for the machine

Core size, winding direction and roll diameter are set to your applicator rather than to a house standard.

Faster than sheets at volume

Continuous feed removes the peel-and-position step, which is the bottleneck in any hand-labelled line.

Fewer line stops

Labels per roll can be set high enough to reduce changeovers without making rolls too heavy to handle.

Manufacturing

Produced at our Ajman facility

Labels are printed, finished and die cut at our Ajman facility, then wound to the core size and direction specified.

Where labels are for an applicator we confirm the roll specification in writing before production, because a correctly printed roll wound the wrong way cannot be used.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What do you need to know about my applicator?

Three things: the core diameter it takes, the maximum roll diameter it will accept, and the winding direction it expects. Winding direction in particular cannot be assumed — a roll wound the wrong way is unusable on the machine.

How many labels per roll?

Enough to reduce changeovers without making the roll too heavy or too large for the machine. It is set against your maximum roll diameter and how often you want the line to stop.

Can roll labels be die cut to a custom shape?

Yes. The shape is cut on the die exactly as with sheet labels, with the gap and spacing set so the roll feeds correctly.

Do I need rolls if I apply labels by hand?

Not necessarily. Sheets are fine at lower volumes. Rolls become worth it once the peel-and-position step is genuinely slowing you down.
