About Custom Shopping Bags

Most retailers need more than one bag. A single size is always wrong for something — too big for a small purchase, too small for a multiple — and a set of two or three covers a range far more efficiently.

Working out that set is the useful part of the exercise. It usually starts with the most common basket rather than the largest possible one, because that is the bag being handed over hundreds of times a week.

Beyond sizing, the decisions are the familiar ones: kraft or laminated art board, paper or rope handles, one Pantone or full colour. All of them trade cost against how the bag feels.

How many bag sizes should we order?

Two or three usually covers a retail range well. Start from the most common basket rather than the largest, since that is the bag being handed over most often, then add one larger size for multiples.

Can we start with a smaller quantity?

Quantity affects unit cost because setup is spread across the run. Send us the quantity you are considering and we will quote against it directly rather than working to a fixed minimum.

Full colour or one Pantone?

A single well-chosen Pantone often looks stronger than full colour on a retail bag, and costs less. Full colour makes sense when the design is photographic or has many tones.

Can the same artwork be used across all sizes?

It should be adapted rather than simply scaled — a logo that sits well on a large bag can look oversized on a small one. We adjust the layout per size as part of the job.
