About Shoulder Neck Box
A shoulder neck box adds a third component to the familiar lid and base: an inner collar, fixed into the base and standing proud of it. The lid sits down over that collar rather than over the base itself.
Two things follow. The lid is guided and located by the collar, so the close is precise and the fit stays consistent. And when the box is closed there is a visible step — the shoulder — between lid and base, which can be left as a contrasting band of colour or foil.
It is a more involved construction than lid and base, and it is chosen where the closing action itself needs to feel engineered. Perfume, spirits and high-value cosmetics are the usual applications.

The collar is normally wrapped in a contrasting paper or foiled so the shoulder reads as a deliberate band. Collar height sets how much of that band shows and how deep the lid sits.
All three components can carry different papers and finishes.
